B ut Jonathan didn’t hear when his father commanded the people with the oath. Therefore he put out the end of the rod who was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth; and his eyes brightened.

Ionatan însă nu auzise jurământul cu care legase tatăl său oştirea. De aceea el a întins capătul băţului care se afla în mâna lui şi l-a înmuiat în mierea din fagure. Şi-a dus miere cu mâna la gură şi ochii i s-au luminat.
