W hen Israel had grown strong, they put the Canaanites to forced labor, and did not utterly drive them out.

وَلَمّا قَوِيَ بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ، جَنَّدُوا الكَنْعانِيِّينَ عَلَى العَمَلِ عَبِيداً لَدَيهِمْ، لَكِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَطرُدُوهُمْ.
