t hat the man slayer might flee there, who kills his neighbor unawares, and didn’t hate him in time past; and that fleeing to one of these cities he might live:

para que huyera allí el homicida que matara a su prójimo sin intención, sin haber tenido enemistad con él nunca antes y, huyendo a una de esas ciudades, salvara su vida.
