B ut when the righteous turns away from his righteousness, and commits iniquity, and does according to all the abominations that the wicked man does, shall he live? None of his righteous deeds that he has done shall be remembered: in his trespass that he has trespassed, and in his sin that he has sinned, in them shall he die.

Tot astfel, dacă cel drept se întoarce de la dreptatea lui şi săvârşeşte nedreptate, asemenea tuturor urâciunilor săvârşite de cel rău, va trăi el oare? Toată dreptatea pe care a înfăptuit-o nu i se va mai aminti. Din cauza necredincioşiei de care a dat dovadă şi din cauza păcatelor pe care le-a săvârşit, el va muri.
