W hen they came to Marah, they couldn’t drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.

Au ajuns la Mara; dar n'au putut să bea apă din Mara, pentrucă era amară. De aceea locul acela a fost numit Mara (Amărăciune).
