C ũng có mấy người thuộc về Mê-na-se đến theo Đa-vít khi người cùng quân Phi-li-tin đi giao chiến cùng Sau-lơ; song họ chẳng giúp đỡ quân Phi-li-tin, vì các quan trưởng Phi-li-tin bàn luận nhau rằng: Sợ e nó trở về cùng Sau-lơ, chủ nó, làm nguy cho đầu chúng ta chăng.

Some of the men of Manasseh deserted to David when he came with the Philistines for the battle against Saul. But men did not actually fight with them, for the lords of the Philistines, upon advisement, sent him away, saying, He will desert to his master Saul at the risk of our heads.
