L uego de oír David que Nabal había muerto, dijo: «Bendito sea Jehová, que juzgó la causa de la afrenta que recibí de manos de Nabal, y ha preservado del mal a su siervo. Jehová ha hecho caer la maldad de Nabal sobre su propia cabeza.» Después mandó David a decir a Abigail que quería tomarla por mujer.

When David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, “Thanks be to the Lord, Who has punished Nabal for putting me to shame. He has kept His servant from sin. And the Lord has turned the sin of Nabal upon himself.” Then David sent word to Abigail, asking her to be his wife.
