C uando los hombres de Hai miraron hacia atrás, vieron que de la ciudad salía humo, y que éste subía al cielo, y ya no pudieron huir ni a una parte ni a otra, porque el pueblo de Israel que fingía huir al desierto, se volvió contra sus perseguidores.

When the men of Ai looked behind them, they saw, and behold, the smoke of the city ascended up to heaven, and they had no power to flee this way or that way. The people who fled to the wilderness turned back on the pursuers.
