L os hijos de José se dividieron en dos tribus, la de Manasés y la de Efraín, y a los levitas no se les dieron tierras. No tuvieron parte en la repartición, aunque sí recibieron ciudades en las cuales vivir, junto con ejidos para sus ganados y rebaños.

For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
