D urante muchos días no pudieron verse el sol ni las estrellas, y la fuerte tempestad nos seguía azotando, así que ya habíamos perdido toda esperanza de salvarnos.

and neither sun nor stars appearing for more days, and not a little tempest lying upon us, thenceforth all hope was taken away of our being saved.
