S edequías se rebeló contra el rey Nabucodonosor de Babilonia, y Nabucodonosor vino con todo su ejército y atacó a Jerusalén y la sitió, y levantó torres de asalto a su alrededor. Era el día diez del mes décimo del noveno año del reinado de Sedequías,

¶ And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, came, he and all his host, against Jerusalem and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about.
