a tunci îi ziceau:,, Ei bine, zi Şibolet.`` Şi el zicea:,, Sibolet``, căci nu putea să -l spună bine. Atunci bărbaţii Galaadului îl apucau, şi -l jungheau lîngă vadurile Iordanului. Astfel au pierit în vremea aceea patruzeci şi două de mii de bărbaţi din Efraim.

then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth; and he said Sibboleth; for he could not frame to pronounce it right: then they laid hold on him, and slew him at the fords of the Jordan. And there fell at that time of Ephraim forty and two thousand.
