C ăci Domnul a îngăduit ca popoarele acelea să-şi împetrească inima şi să lupte împotriva lui Israel, pentru ca Israel să le nimicească cu desăvîrşire, fără să aibă milă de ele, şi să le nimicească, după cum poruncise lui Moise Domnul.

For it was of the Lord to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the Lord commanded Moses.
