C ăci de multe ori fusese legat cu picioarele în obezi şi cu cătuşe la mîni, dar rupsese cătuşele şi sfărîmase obezile, şi nimeni nu -l putea domoli.

because many times he had been bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been broken in pieces by him, and the fetters shattered; neither could anyone tame him.
