A ceştia sînt copiii lui Israel, după numărul lor, capii caselor părinteşti, căpeteniile peste mii şi peste sute, şi slujbaşi în slujba împăratului pentru tot ce privea şirul cetelor, sosirea şi plecarea lor, lună după lună, în toate lunile anului; fiecare ceată era de douăzeci şi patru de mii de oameni.

These were the sons of Israel, the heads of fathers’ houses. They were the leaders of thousands and of hundreds. These were the captains who worked for the king in anything to do with the armies which came in and went out every month of the year. There were 24, 000 men in each army.
