I oab a văzut că avea de luptat şi înainte şi înapoi. A ales atunci din toţi voinicii de frunte ai lui Israel o ceată, pe care a aşezat -o împotriva Sirienilor;

Now when Joab saw that the battle was set against him before and behind, he chose out of all the choice of Israel and put them in order against the Syrians.
