D avid le -a ieşit înainte, şi le -a vorbit astfel:,, Dacă veniţi la mine cu gînduri bune, ca să mă ajutaţi, inima mea se va uni cu voi; dar dacă veniţi să mă înşelaţi, în folosul vrăjmaşilor mei, cînd nu fac nicio sîlnicie, Dumnezeul părinţilor noştri să vadă şi să judece!``

And David went out to meet them and answered and said unto them, If you are come peaceably unto me to help me, my heart shall be knit unto you; but if you are come to betray me to my enemies, seeing there is no violence in my hands, let the God of our fathers look thereon and rebuke it.
