S fatul dat pe vremea aceea de Ahitofel avea tot atîta putere ca şi cînd ar fi întrebat chiar pe Dumnezeu. Tot aşa era cu toate sfaturile lui Ahitofel, fie pentru David, fie pentru Absalom.

And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counselled in those days, was as if a man had enquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
