Q uando Davi soube que Nabal estava morto, disse: “Bendito seja o Senhor, que defendeu a minha causa contra Nabal, por ter me tratado com desprezo. O Senhor impediu seu servo de praticar o mal e fez com que a maldade de Nabal caísse sobre a sua própria cabeça”. Então Davi enviou uma mensagem a Abigail, pedindo-lhe que se tornasse sua mulher.

And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be Jehovah, that hath pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept back his servant from evil: and the evil-doing of Nabal hath Jehovah returned upon his own head. And David sent and spake concerning Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
