O s homens de Israel estavam exaustos naquele dia, pois Saul lhes havia imposto um juramento, dizendo: “Maldito seja todo o que comer antes do anoitecer, antes que eu tenha me vingado de meus inimigos!” Por isso ninguém tinha comido nada.

¶ But the men of Israel were distressed that day, for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eats any food until evening that I may be avenged on my enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
