C ontudo, antes de Jeremias se virar para partir, Nebuzaradã acrescentou: “Volte a Gedalias, filho de Aicam, neto de Safã, a quem o rei da Babilônia nomeou governador sobre as cidades de Judá, e viva com ele entre o povo, ou vá para qualquer outro lugar que desejar”. Então o comandante lhe deu provisões e um presente, e o deixou partir.

While was hesitating, said, Go back then to Gedaliah son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people; or go wherever it seems right for you to go. So the captain of the guard gave him an allowance of food and a present and let him go.
