D avi derrotou também os moabitas. Ele os fez deitar-se no chão e mandou que os medissem com uma corda; os moabitas que ficavam dentro das duas primeiras medidas da corda eram mortos, mas os que ficavam dentro da terceira eram poupados. Assim, os moabitas ficaram sujeitos a Davi, pagando-lhe impostos.

He defeated Moab, and measured them with the line, making them lie down on the ground; and he measured two lines to put to death and one full line to keep alive. And the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.
