A tunci Saul i-a zis celui ce-i ducea armele: „Scoate-ţi sabia şi străpunge-mă tu cu ea, ca nu cumva aceşti necircumcişi să ajungă la mine, să mă străpungă şi să mă batjocorească.“ Însă cel ce-i ducea armele n-a vrut să facă lucrul acesta pentru că îi era foarte frică. Atunci Saul şi-a luat sabia şi s-a aruncat în ea.

Then Saul said to the one who carried his battle-clothes, “Take your sword and cut through me with it. Or these men who have not gone through our religious act will come and kill me with the sword and make fun of me.” But the one who carried his battle-clothes would not do it, for he was filled with fear. So Saul took his sword and fell on it.
