D ar David a jurat din nou, zicând: – Cu siguranţă că tatăl tău a ştiut că am găsit bunăvoinţă la tine şi s-a gândit: „Să nu ştie Ionatan lucrul acesta căci s-ar întrista.“ Însă, cu adevărat, viu este Domnul şi viu este sufletul tău că între mine şi moarte nu mai este decât un pas.

And David swore moreover, and said, Thy father certainly knows that I have found grace in thine eyes, and he saith in himself, Let Jonathan not know this lest he be grieved; but truly as the LORD lives and as thy soul lives, there is but a step between me and death.
