G hedeon I-a răspuns: – Nu te supăra, domnule, dar dacă Domnul este cu noi atunci de ce ni s-au întâmplat toate acestea? Şi unde sunt toate minunile pe care ni le-au istorisit părinţii noştri când ziceau: „Nu ne-a scos Domnul din Egipt?“ Dar acum Domnul ne-a părăsit şi ne-a dat în mâna midianiţilor.

Then Gideon said to him, “O my lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
