C el ce trăieşte în păcat este de la diavolul, pentru că diavolul păcătuieşte de la început. Tocmai pentru aceasta a fost arătat Fiul lui Dumnezeu: ca să distrugă lucrările diavolului.

He that practises sin is of the devil; for from beginning the devil sins. To this end the Son of God has been manifested, that he might undo the works of the devil.
