D eci în primul său an de domnie, eu, Daniel, am înţeles din cărţi numărul de ani care trebuiau să se împlinească, după Cuvântul Domnului spus profetului Ieremia, cu privire la ruinele Ierusalimului. Era vorba despre şaptezeci de ani.

In the first year of his rule, I, Daniel, understood the books which were given by the Lord through Jeremiah that Jerusalem would lie waste for seventy years.
