C hiar în clipa aceea au apărut degetele unei mâini de om care scria în faţa sfeşnicului, pe tencuiala peretelui din palatul împărătesc. Împăratul a văzut palma mâinii care scria.

Immediately and suddenly there appeared the fingers of a man’s hand and wrote on the plaster of the wall opposite the candlestick in the king’s palace, and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
