A tunci, toţi bărbaţii care ştiau că soţiile lor ardeau tămâie altor dumnezei, împreună cu toate femeile care erau prezente – o mare mulţime – şi cu întreg poporul care locuia în ţara Egiptului şi în Patros, i-au răspuns lui Ieremia:
