Î n primul an al domniei lui Cirus, împăratul Persiei, ca să se împlinească Cuvântul Domnului spus prin Ieremia, Domnul a trezit duhul lui Cirus, împăratul Persiei, şi acesta a pus să se vestească prin viu grai şi prin scrisori în toată împărăţia sa următoarele:
