Î n al optulea an al domniei sale, pe când era încă tânăr, a început să-L caute pe Dumnezeul lui David, strămoşul său, pentru ca în al doisprezecelea an al domniei sale să înceapă să cureţe ţinutul lui Iuda şi Ierusalimul de înălţimi, de aşere, de idoli ciopliţi şi de idoli turnaţi.

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images.
