A tunci a luat pe întâiul său născut, care urma să fie rege în locul lui şi l-a adus ca ardere de tot pe zidul cetăţii. O mare indignare l-a cuprins pe Israel. Drept urmare Israel s-a retras din Moab, întorcându-se acasă.

Then he took his oldest son who would have reigned in his place, and offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. There was great wrath against Israel; and they departed from him, and returned to their own land.
