A tunci regele, cutremurându-se, s-a dus în încăperea care se afla deasupra porţii şi a început să plângă. În timp ce mergea, el spunea: „O, fiul meu Absalom! O, fiul meu, fiul meu Absalom! De ce n-am murit eu în locul tău? O, Absalom, fiul meu, fiul meu!“

And the king trembleth, and goeth up on the upper chamber of the gate, and weepeth, and thus he hath said in his going, `My son! Absalom my son; my son Absalom; oh that I had died for thee, Absalom, my son, my son.'
