S e trezea dis-de-dimineaţă şi stătea pe marginea drumului care ducea spre poarta cetăţii. Oricine venea la rege cu vreo neînţelegere pe care acesta s-o judece, Absalom îl chema şi-l întreba de unde este, iar acesta îi spunea seminţia din care face parte.

He used to get up early and stand beside the way to the gate. When any man had a problem to be decided upon by the king, Absalom would call to him and say, “What city are you from?” And he would answer, “Your servant is from one of the families of Israel.”
