L a începutul anului, pe vremea când porneau regii la război, David l-a trimis pe Ioab, împreună cu slujitorii săi şi cu întreaga oştire a lui Israel, la război. Ei i-au nimicit pe amoniţi şi au asediat Raba. David însă rămăsese la Ierusalim.

It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.
