A tunci când oamenii din acel loc îl întrebau despre soţia lui, el le răspundea că este sora lui, deoarece se temea să le spună că este soţia lui, crezând că oamenii locului îl vor omorî din cauza Rebecăi, pentru că era frumoasă.
