G edeone gli rispose: «Ahimè, mio signore, se il Signore è con noi, perché ci è accaduto tutto questo? Dove sono tutte quelle sue meraviglie che i nostri padri ci hanno narrate dicendo: “Il Signore non ci ha forse fatti uscire dall’Egitto?” Ma ora il Signore ci ha abbandonati e ci ha dati nelle mani di Madian».

And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the Lord be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt? but now the Lord hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
