O re d’Assiria, i tuoi pastori si sono addormentati, i tuoi valorosi ufficiali riposano; il tuo popolo è disperso su per i monti e non c’è nessuno che lo riunisca.

Thy shepherds slumber, O king of Assyria: thy nobles shall dwell in the dust: thy people is scattered upon the mountains, and no man gathereth them.
