C onsigliaci, fa’ giustizia! In pieno mezzogiorno, stendi su di noi l’ombra tua densa come la notte, nascondi gli esuli, non tradire i fuggiaschi;

Give counsel, execute justice; make your shade like night in the midst of noonday; hide the outcasts, betray not the fugitive to his pursuer.
