T emevano anche il Signore; e si fecero dei sacerdoti per gli alti luoghi scegliendoli tra di loro, i quali offrivano per loro dei sacrifici nei templi degli alti luoghi.

They feared the Lord also, and yet they chose from among themselves religious leaders of the high places. These leaders gave the gifts for them in the houses of the high places.
