A llora Davide disse al messaggero: «Dirai così a Ioab: “Non affliggerti per ciò che è accaduto, perché la spada divora ora l’uno ora l’altro; rinforza l’attacco contro la città e distruggila”. E tu fagli coraggio».

Then David said unto the messenger, Thus shalt thou say unto Joab, Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it: and encourage thou him.
