T hey knew it was the man who had been sitting and begging at the Beautiful Gate. They were surprised he was walking.

And they recognized him as the man who usually sat for alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement (bewilderment, consternation) over what had occurred to him.
