H alf of their children spoke the language of Ashdod. They could not speak the language of Judah, but the language of their own people.

وَكانَ نِصْفُ أبْنائِهِمْ يَتَكَلَّمُ لُغَةَ أشْدُودَ أوْ إحدَى لُغاتِ الأُمَمِ الأُخرَى، وَكانُوا يَجهَلُونَ لُغَةَ يَهُوذا العِبْرِيَّةِ.
