G edaliah made a promise to them and their men. He said to them, “Do not be afraid of the Babylonian leaders. Live in the land and work for the king of Babylon. Then it will be well with you.”

Gedalías les hizo juramento a ellos y a los suyos, y les dijo: «No temáis de servir a los caldeos; habitad en la tierra, servid al rey de Babilonia y os irá bien.»
