K ing Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon had left some people in the land of Judah. He chose Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, to rule over them.

Nebucadneţar, împăratul Babilonului, l-a pus conducător peste poporul rămas în ţara lui Iuda, – pe care el îl lăsase acolo –, pe Ghedalia, fiul lui Ahikam, fiul lui Şafan.
