H e built again the high places which his father Hezekiah had destroyed. He built altars for Baal and made an object out of wood to worship the false goddess Asherah. He did as Ahab king of Israel had done. He worshiped all the stars of heaven and served them.

Reconstruiu os altares idólatras que seu pai Ezequias havia demolido e também ergueu altares para Baal e fez um poste sagrado para Aserá, como fizera Acabe, rei de Israel. Inclinou-se diante de todos os exércitos celestes e lhes prestou culto.
