T hen all the people of the land went to the house of Baal and tore it down. They broke to pieces all his altars and objects. And they killed Mattan the religious leader of Baal in front of the altars. Then the religious leaders chose men to watch over the house of the Lord.

Então todo o povo da terra entrou na casa de Baal, e a derrubaram; como também os seus altares, e as suas imagens, totalmente quebraram; e a Matã, sacerdote de Baal, mataram diante dos altares. Também o sacerdote pôs vigias sobre a casa do Senhor.
