W hen Ahithophel saw that his words were not followed, he got onto his donkey and went home to his city. He told those of his family what they must do, and he hanged himself. So he died and was buried in his father’s grave.

Vendo Aitofel que o seu conselho não havia sido aceito, selou seu jumento e foi para casa, para a sua cidade natal; pôs seus negócios em ordem e depois se enforcou. Ele foi sepultado no túmulo de seu pai.
