A bsalom answered Joab, “I sent for you, saying, ‘Come here, that I may send you to say to the king, “Why have I come from Geshur? It would have been better for me to stay there.”’ Now let me see the king’s face. If there is guilt in me, let him put me to death.”

Absalom rispose a Joab: «Io ti avevo mandato a dire: "Vieni qui, affinché possa mandarti dal re a dirgli: Perché sono tornato da Gheshur? Sarebbe meglio per me se fossi rimasto là". Ora quindi permettimi di vedere la faccia del re. Se poi in me vi è qualche iniquità, che mi faccia morire!».
