T herefore, because it was the Preparation Day, that the bodies should not remain on the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day), the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

犹 太 人 因 这 日 是 预 备 日 ， 又 因 那 安 息 日 是 个 大 日 ， 就 求 彼 拉 多 叫 人 打 断 他 们 的 腿 ， 把 他 们 拿 去 ， 免 得 尸 首 当 安 息 日 留 在 十 字 架 上 。
